Sym's Gourmet Center

well, it's been a while when we last ate in this fast-food center at time's square foodcourt. me, erwin and madel had lunch here one time and we ordered three different meals. erwin ordered tocilog first, then madel, being an islam, ordered for chicken-silog and i ordered a burger.

after a lapse of several minutes, an order came and we immediately assumed that it was erwin's. we didn't actually mind looking at it because at first look, you'll really know it's pork.

then we were talking and stuff when the second order came. we knew it'll be madel's because it's another rice meal and i only ordered a burger. we didn't quite notice the food because we were busy talking to each other when madel realized that it was pork which she was served with when she tasted it. wow!

we were surprised and so, we called the attention of one of the staff of the center. the girl came and looked at our orders. then she said that the chicken was the one that erwin was eating. it surprised us because we never expected that it'll be chicken because it looked exactly like pork.

so madel demanded for a change in order. at first, the staff declined, saying erwin should pay for it because he ate what was supposed to be madel's order. but we insisted that it wasn't our fault. initially, the busboy who served our orders should have told us which one was which. knowing that erwin ordered first, we assumed that it was his food that was first served.

so later on, the staff agreed to change the order and after a while, madel's chicken-silog was given. yeah, and it looked so much like chicken, not the one that erwin was eating a while ago. i examined the left meat carefully and looking at the color of it, it seemed to be more pork-like for me and not chicken. there's a lot of difference even if you just stare at it. a chicken has white meat, pork has red and chickens are more striated when you look at the meat.

it was really a terrible experience especially for madel who accidentally ate pork when she wasn't supposed to be. so a piece of advice to you. DON'T EAT AT SYM'S! hahaha!!

no seriously, when you order by bulk and it wasn't served at the same time, ask...ask the server what meal it is so that you can be assured that you're also eating the right order.

but of course, it should be the server's initial duty.jeez...

Gor-Gor - The Amazing Beatboxer!

when i arrived at our review center last tuesday morning, i was so stressed out because i was late and the exam was about to start.

i was sharpening my pencil and texting at the same time when this mysterious gor-gor guy was called to the stage to perform some beatbox action. i actually ignored him and continued on doing my thing when he started to perform.

i stopped what i was doing and i lifted my head, with mouth opened. my god, he was amazing! i never thought i would be able to hear a live beatbox at that very moment and i wasn't expecting that it would be that great.

i was really amazed. i never imagined that such talent could be developed. it was just extraordinary and i just hope that this gor-gor guy will continue to develop his talent and yeah, share it to people. =]

Kalimudan 2007

ok, me, angelie and marie went to carmelite this afternoon to ask for a pray over. then after that, i told them that i should go home early because me and my family were going to magsaysay park for the kalimudan 2007, an exhibit of different filipino tribes.

then, angelie and marie suggested that they should go too, so the three of us went there. it was really awesome, i even told my sister to come quick because we wanted to have our pictures taken.

there were exhibits of different houses from different tribes. they were just too beautiful and amazing! you can't actually believe that these ethnic people live in those small yet creative-looking houses built out of bamboo, some scraps from the coconut tree and some lumber, without nails to hold each other but just ties from abaca. they were really amazing!

then we were so much drawn to this huge thing upstairs from one house, which bounces up and down like a trampoline as people jump over it. but it wasn't made of a rubber and some heavy duty flexible thing. it was entirely made of bamboo tied together. scary, think about it! haha! but we had fun jumping up and down over it.

the most amazing thing about it was that it has a bamboo pole at the middle which also bounces up and down as we jumped and hits a little drum from underneath creating a nice pounding sound. the person in charge there told me that if only proper dancing rhythm was made, the pounding will create a good music. but then, we did not dance. we just merely jumped! haha! it was so fun! i couldn't believe that i would be able to experience it!

then there was this nice swing thing where a member of the tribe steps on it and swings it as he dances his tribal dance. it looked so cool but when me and my friends tried it, it was not cool anymore for it really disturbs your balance! hahaha!! but it was still fun playing there! hehehe...

so yeah, we really had so much fun as we discovered how much our ethnicity made me actually proud of being a filipino! =]

Marie Digby - A Talented Discovery

being able to click on the piano keys, strum the guitar strings and sing with such a heartwarming voice. what more can you ask for this japanese-irish beauty who's just too good to be true, with a talent that everyone has wanted to have.

even i was surprised when i saw her on youtube. i couldn't believe that i was actually looking at a real person. she was just too perfect i might say to be actually living but yeah, she's a living creature! haha!

marie (mar-ye) has wished to be discovered by posting her amateur videos on youtube, singing with her guitar or piano some songs popularized by certain artists and of course, her original makes as well. she has actually captured the hearts of many youtube viewers around the world that she was discovered on an FM station as well as a late noght show in LA.

then, as if blessings came showering like the way her voice has showered inspirations to other people, she has made an album to be released in 2008 and she already has an itunes album as well.

currently, she's doing some radio tour and performances on hotels and studios as one of her promotional means all over the united states.

well, she wasn't even officially in the hollywood yet but she already has loads of fans off youtube! hehehe...including me, of course!

i definitely will wait for her album to come out! =]

JOIE'S FIRST DEATH ANNIVERSARY

The Crazy Alien

ah, i know i shall never see this funky face again and i was like feeling so bad because i had so much fun yesterday that i actually forgot it was joie's 1st death anniversary.

but i know she'll understand. even before yesterday, i was already screaming out loud to everyone that it was her death anniversary. i'm sure that already counted.

so yeah, i missed joie so so much. it has been a year since she left us but still, she remained part of us everyday. we even joke around about her coming and visiting and prue was even pretending to be her. even i was pretending to be her in TATI. hahaha!! oh well.. that's life when you're totally missing someone.

so there's not much that i can say. i just wish that she's already happy up to wherever she is right now because i'm sure her family and friends were also happy for she didn't leave any bad memories behind but those that we can definitely treasure for the rest of our lives.

love you, joie! happy deathsary! don't even know if it's really supposed to be happy. but then, i guess it should be. no reason for grieving anymore.

hehehe...well love you joe! you'll always be here ==>> ♥♥♥

ONE MORE CHANCE of bonding!

yay! so i had an awesome bonding blast with some of my college friends yesterday thanks to bea and john lloyd! hahaha!!

konti lang kami actually. i wasn't even expecting na matutuloy yung pinlano namin as in last october pa talaga! heheeh...

then yeah, me, elaine, felix, erickson and robert went to watch JL & bea's movie, ONE MORE CHANCE. we were already planning to watch this since last october pa. erickson was the one who really wanted to watch this movie because he said...nakakarelate daw siya. hahaha!!

so yeah, we watched at NCC mall. although kami lang, it was still fun though. masaya pa rin naman silang kasama kasi. hehehe...we really had fun laughing and crying together! even though we strained our eyes a lot because we were seated in front, we didn't mind a single thing.

the movie was great rin naman in some ways. masasabi kong both of them made mistakes but both of them got hurt all the same. it was really what we call a definitive GIVE AND TAKE RELATIONSHIP! haha! that even after the break up, they still shared the same feelings.

it was good, really good. funny, dramatic, romantic. the actors were great! even robert and bea saw did a great job acting for the first time! hehehe...

so anyway, after watching, we met up with karen who wasn't able to come with us because she was from isulan and she was with her family. we stayed a while in KFC and there...came the revelations! hahaha!!

but i'll keep it at that. what we talked about will be between us na lang. all i knew is that we were happy that day and i totally miss them so much! so so much!

Ratatouille

haha! so you've noticed i've been to movie marathons, haven't you? hahaha!!

well, it's sunday anyway. what can i do on a sunday though?

so yeah, i've finally seen ratatouille. it's been such a while though since it has been out on the big screen, but yeah, i still watched it anyway.

so what about this "little chef" then, eh?

well, let's say that he's actually amazed me not only with his cooking skills but his loyalty and of course, cleanliness skills. haha! a rat that washes hands before holding food! it was awesome! hahaha!!

anyway, so remy was this really ambitious rat who dreamed to become a chef. but it was impossible, of course, he was a rat.

but as remy went befriending an idiot who has to have his skills, i've realized that the chef gusteau was right, "ANYONE CAN COOK" no matter who you are or what you are, you definitely can cook.

even if you're a rat! hahaha!!

this series is really cute. although in real life, you can't actually imagine a fine dining restaurant serving you food cooked by rats! hahaha!! wouldn't it be too disgusting?

but then, it was just a movie anyway and besides, the rats were actually STEAMED by remy before they went to cook. so they were already clean, so to speak! hahaha!!

i just love disney movies, so much! and ratatouille has once again proven disney's reputation of being the best!

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

whoa whoa whoa wait a minute? did i just actually watch this now? as in now after 4 months? hahaha!!

well, well, well...that's the consequence of being too lazy to watch movies on cinema. i can't believe i've actually let 4 whole months slip before i've finally watched this movie which was like something that i've been awfully waiting for since the 4th installment last 2005!

well call me crazy but at least i've watched it...was it disappointing?

APPARENTLY NOT! hahaha!!

ok, let me list a few things why i actually said it wasn't disappointing.

number one. it actually difinitively awesomely was the only movie series installment which has been the most loya to the book. although of course, we cannot actually evade the cutting of some parts (which i actually understand. hahaha!).

number two. the hogwarts set up was kinda changed. unlike the prisoner of azkaban movie and the goblet movie, it has been more hogwarts-like again. just like in the first 2 prequels. hehehe... i dunno, i found it more hogwarts-like this time that the past ones.

number three. oh my god, i can't believe they've finally grown up! hahaha!! i love the characters so much! and dudley's been the worst still, ever! although it wasn't explained much on the fist part that aunt petunia knew about them dementors. hehehe...oh by the way, i didn't like the new dementor. it's ugly! hahaha!! =P

number 4. it was a really happy one. hahaha!! i know harry was meant to be too pre-occupied with what was happening to him in this installment but i find it rather amusing lately. especially with padfoot and grawp's appearances...

number five. professor dolores umbidge. aaahhh...although she doesn't look exactly the way i was imagining her, she was definitely professor umbridge...ATTITUDE-like! hahaha!!

number six: the actors' have definitely improved what with already 5 installments' worth of working together! hahaha!! daniel radcliffe isn't this lumpy tanky kid anymore. he's really grown up to be a good actor. especially in the possession part at the department of mysteries.

number seven. nymphadora tonks and luna lovegood rock! hahaha!! they actually stole the scene from cho chang and hermione granger! hahaha!! pretty actors! i definitely salute Natalia Tena and Evanna Lynch for those awesome performances. oh, i would like to include helena bonham carter's character of bellatrix lestrange, too! i love her insanity! hahaha!! and i just found out she was victoria's voice in the corpse bride! hahaha!! amazing!

number eight and last, i'd say. the ministry of magic fighting scenes! ok, a lot has been saying that this was the only best part in the movie. and i kinda agree with them! it was really amazing! i love the way the blacks and whites raged war with each other. i love the way the kids (harry, ron, hermione, ginny, luna and neville), fought for their lives even if they knew they were helpless...sadly, i love the death od sirius black and the way harry reacted on it. it was so natural...
and finally, i definitely love the fight between lord voldemort and albus dumbledore! it was really one of a kind! definitely, the most real MAGIC battle that i've ever seen out of the 5 movies! hahaha!!!

well, i can't deny that i still lov harry potter no atter what happens. i still find ways to appreciate it despite bad reviews from other people! =]

What's is actually happening to our ForEx and Economy?

why don't they actually coincide with each other?

lately, i've been so bothered with the decline of the dollar exchange rate against peso. i remembered its peak reaching around 56-57 pesos pero dollar before and in just a matter of 2 years, i suppose, it dropped to an amazingly more than a hundred percent!

ForEx this morning closed to 42.35 pero dollar and i know it was really amazing that finally, peso is climbing up against the economy-threatening dollar.

but why am i bothered? i should be happy, shouldn't i?

well one reason why i was bothered was because my family was actually dollar earners. yeah, i won't go into details but all the same, this is what i can say. my family relies so much with the high dollar exchange rate against peso and the drop-off of dollar is actually a big disappointment for us.

next reason is that the unprogressive economy despite the shoot-up of peso. i know the increase was only against dollar but wasn't it the reason why our economy went incredibly low about a couple of years ago? because of the dollar?

then why is our economy still the same despite the increase in the peso rate? why is there still an unbelievable oil price hike? why haven't our goods returned to their original prices? why do we still have to suffer the pain of poverty despite the government's good announcement that philippines is now attracting a lot of good foreign investors that's why our ForEx rate is gradually becoming good?

why are we still troubling upon buying products because they were still too expensive for us to handle?

why aren't they actually congruent? why don't the prices go down as dollar went down, too?

don't you guys think it's just a bit unfair? or was it again...our dear president's fault?

wow! new look!

yay!! i love my new blog lay out! hehehe...
it's just so pink, don't you think? hahaha!! it has been a while since i've changed a lay out because it's really hard to look for pretty ones.

well i'm just happy that i've found one that really suits me! it's my first time to use a lay out with clicked navigations because most of the time, i use one with side navigations only. oh well, i love it anyway. hehehe...

i'm currently listening to park hyo shin's runaway!! hahaha!! random!

David Sunflower Seeds

Eat. Spit. Be Happy!

ever heard of it? well, when my sister's fiancee came here from the united states last april, 2007, he brought this what i called the american version of CAPTAIN SID. haha!!

well, it wasn't only the american version because it was entirely different. it's from sunflower seeds and more, it's falovored!

eat. spit. be happy. why do we have to spit? because unlike our butong pakwan here where we pick one seed, open it with our teeth, and eat the inside.

with these sunflower seeds, we actually put a bunch inside our mouths, taste the flavors, use our tongue to transfer one seed on the other side of our cheek and bite it to open, eat the inside and spit out the shell. feels hard, eh? yeah, at first, it was hardwork. we start with a few seeds first and when we were already able to master the process, we can already put a whole lot of seeds inside our mouth!

it was really fun! indeed, it makes a person happy while eating it! haha! i've been too addicted to it, actually. hehehe..i especially love the HOT flavor where it is really hot! it really kills my tongue but i enjoy eating it! hehehe...

was just glad that steve was too generous to include at least five huge packs of david seeds everytime he sends a package to my sister!

Park Hyo Shin - Powerful Voice!

i've already been hearing his voice before but i haven't actually paid much attention to him.

he was the one who sang the i'm Sorry, i love you OST snowflower which i've loved so much. i was already amazed with his voice because it was really powerful and beautiful. one of the reasons why i've learned to love the soundtrack.

so lately, i've been browsing through my favorite videos in youtube. i've re-watched oh man seok and yoon eun hye's performance in the 2006 KBS drama awards, kim jeong hoon's version of snowflower in his japan concert and also so ji sub's version.

so while i was watching, i clicked on park hyo shin's version of the song. it was from a live performance where he was sick but still, he was able to deliver the song with such power. then it hit me. yes, i like him. haha! he has this really amazing part in the song which gave me goosebumps even if i wasn't listening to him live. so i started clicking videos madly.

i came across this song titled hurricane. i wasn't paying much attention to the song at first because i was concentrating on his voice when i realized that he was actually singing an english song. in perfect pronunciation! wow! this guy could speak english! so i found out that the song he was singing was an original by classic artist, eric benet.

and more english songs came. his duet with anna which is the aladdin OST, a whole new world, he also had a live performance with the hollywood band, all4one. i also saw his debut video where he sang whitney huoston's run to you. oh my god, the hair on the back of my neck stood up as he sang. it was really unbelievable! i thought he was only this normal korean artist who sings, but he was different he puts life to the song and he really can capture the hearts of people listening to him.

i've realized how much i've been hooking for disney cartoon since i was a kid...

oh my god, i haven't actually thought about how much of a disney girl i was until i took this flixter quiz from donna, about identifying these classic disney cartoons.

i've just realized how much i've been hooking for disney stuff since i was a kid. i actually remebered all of my video cassette recorders before in my bedroom, all of which were disney cartoons. from snow white to the little mermaid to beauty and the beast. i really couldn't believe that i've outgrown them and i couldn't believe that these classic films are until now, still loved by kids.

ok, here comes my DISNEY CLASSIC NOSTALGIA! bring it on!!!

The Rescuers
who could forget about these two cute mice named Bernard and Bianca from the Rescue Aid Society who came to rescue the poor Penny from the evil Madame Medusa. I've remembered how much I've cried all throughout this movie and I couldn't forget the time when i always sing "Don't cry little one.." as penny's tears came falling to the waters.
awww...really nice movie. i think it was released around 1990 something.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame
i haven't actually seen this movie on the big screen but i've seen this on video before. i didn't actually like this one but still, i watched it since it's disney. haha!

Pocahontas
i knew about vanessa williams because of this movie. i've seen it here in davao when i first got here last 1995. i even have a T-shirt with meeko and flit along with my cousins who were also crazed by this movie.

Mulan
i think, aside from aladdin, this was one of the asian disney classic that i've seen. released on 1998, i think. i've loved her character in here and of course, who could actually forget about cricket and mushu, the great dragon?
i've also loved its OST and this was the time when i first liked christina aguilera.

The Lion King
released in 1994, i think. i remembered, i was still in manila when i watched this. i even thought that lions really were sweet talkers like the lions in this movie. i've memorized all their songs and yeah, i have a complete album of it.

Peter Pan
this was probably the oldest movie that i've seen. i haven't actually seen this on cinema (except for that one with jeremy sumpter). i've only seen this on video that was given by my aunt from the united states. so yeah, like most kids, this also made me believe that flying could actually be achieved if you think of happy thoughts. haha! silly me!

The Fox and the Hound
one of the best movies that i've ever seen. also seen this on a vcr because it's also an old film. i really loved tod and cooper so much for they have been great friends despite their differences. this movie also built a gap between me and my friend before because he actually lost my vcr when he borrowed it from me. but we're ok now. just reminds me every time i see this picture. haha!

Aladdin
i remember watching this film with my sister while she was still pregnant with my nephew. i think i was around 6-7 years old that time, it was an awesome movie. this one really had me hooked because of those genie and magic carpet things which you can't actually see often in other fairy tale movies.

Sleeping Beauty
and did i mention that peter pan was the oldest film that i ever saw? well i think this one comes second. haha! wonder how on earth was i able to watch this? well i've seen this on disney channel way-way back when they have this nice SLEEPING BEAUTY anniversary thing. well i bet princess aurora's dubber was already dead, may she rest in peace. hehehe...

Cinderella
oh my god! and as if peter pan was enough! haha! this film was released early 1950's. probably the most classic among the famous disney princesses. and i am truly amazed that even though it has already been 57 years old, cinderella is still famous among kids younger my age and it was also often revived on live action movies with a twist, of course (think the cinderella story). haha!
glass slippers, anyone?

Lady and the Tramp
awww, another classic animal movie. hehehe... i really loved the sweetness of this film and who could actually forget the sweet spaghetti dinner by moonlight that gained a lot of imitators? sweet eh?

Bambi
now, i hate this movie! haha! oh i don't actually hate it, i just didn't like it that much. i was also able to watch it on video since it was released in 1940's something. well, old movies really don't appeal that much to me, eh? haha!

Dumbo
know what, i have a feeling that i am the only one who actually knew about the existence of this flying elephant. anyone knew about him too, please raise your hands! haha!
well i loved dumbo. i loved his mom, i loved his ears, i loved the stork that brought him to his mom. i love the sadness of this movie. i also love the way it was ended. indeed, despite the differences, someone can still do something.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
alright, i didn't know that this movie was released late 1930's. haha! oh my god! think about that, that's exactly the childhood years of my grandmother! haha!
oh well, i remember having a huge story book based n this movie and my mom used to read it to me every night. yes, pabalik-balik! haha! weird, eh? yeah, i'm actually weird! haha!

Pinocchio
aww, i forgot his cat's name here but i can't quite forget his father, gipetto who lived inside a whale while in search of him! haha!
and jiminy cricket who became his only conscience while he was being turned into a bad boy by the evil stromboli! weeee! did it ever amaze you how those names retained in my mind for so many years? haha!

alright, those disney features i've posted above were only a few from what i've actually seen. they were examples from the quiz which i took on flixter from my friend, donna. hehehe...i've actually got the perfect score of answering which disney movies were those made me think that hey, i really did grow up as a disney kid! haha!
how abut you then? are you a disney kid?

other disney animated movies i've seen

three little pigs - 1933
alice in wonderland - 1951
101 dalmatians - 1961
the jungle book - 1967
the aristocats - 1970
the little mermaid - 1989
beauty and the beast - 1991
toy story - 1995
hercules - 1997
a bug's life - 1998
dinosaur - 2000

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

ah, that november 1 fever! hahaha! i really wonder why a lot of people go to the cemetery to visit their deads on november 1 when in fact, the official all souls' day is on november second.

well ok, i admit, i was one of those who had the misconception of thinking that ARAW NG PATAY is dated november first. me and my family actually went to the cemetery to visit my lola who was buried there just today.

the cemetery was packed with people. there are thousands of deads buried there times the number of visitors per dead plus the ones who go there to sell or simply to have fun and have a date. it was really a mess. looked like a huge orgy party was happeniong inside and instead of staying silent to pray for the dead, people party inside their respective tents. awww...so much for a HALLOWEEN PARTY! haha!!

speaking of halloween though, where did it actually come from? well during the ancient ireland times, halloween is celebrated as Samhain Feast which means the feast of the end of summer when on october 31st, the dead people will revisit the living world.

soon, when catholicism was introduced, Pope Gregory IV introduced Halloween as All Saints'/Souls' day in memoriam of the dead christians whom they believe will return to visit the living world by the end of October.

ah, so that's how the HALLOWEEN thing started. no wonder all monster and ghost stories come out during halloween because originally, it was really dedicated to the dead and all creatures that aren't from the living world.

so i guess i should really have attened our halloween party last 31st. hahaha! i missed a chance of a lifetime actually because of my laziness, sorry peepz! i'll just make it up to you on november 14th when we will watch One More Chance. hahaha!! rantings...rantings...rantings...i'm actually having flight of ideas here...

so yeah, tomorrow, we're going to Digos City to visit my lola's family's grave and my lolo's grave, too. but i can't go since i have a review tomorrow. awww...poor me.

oh well, it was a fun night, afterall. i had my eyes hurt from those glittering stick lights and blinking flashes! hahaha!!

awoooo!! HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!
