Church condemns artificial birth control methods

Teenage pregnancies, spontaneous abortion, sexually transmitted diseases. These are some of the so-called "trends" that the 21st century has. No matter how much we deny it, even the most conservative country had these cases.

Doctors, Family Planning experts and other Reproductive Medical professionals recommend contraceptives to prevent the complications stated above.

But as far as people become concerned with these birth control methods; the more they become fully aware of the so-called "safe sex", the Church has been doing their best to stop these "safe abortion" method that they called.

The Catholic Church is very particular with the pro-life concept of every human being. For them, sexual intercourse should be considered a sacred activity, not a form of leisure. This physical sexual contact should be associated with the desire to pro-create life and not only a desire to satisfy oneself.

Usage of these artificial birth control methods actually make an intercourse seem to be a pastime, a form of leisure or a way to satisfy one's sexual desire.

With the safe sex methods, humans prevent the creation of a new life, thus resulting to abortion whether or not the baby is developed.

I kinda agree with what the Church wanted to tell us. True. A bond between a male and a female being should be a proof of love and pro-creation.

But nowadays, pro-creation is already one major problem a country is facing. Here in the Philippines, we suffer from over-population, resulting to poverty because of this pro-creation concept.

Safe sex education, the use of natural and artificial birth control methods for me is one way of ensuring that we will still have the chance to show our children a good future ahead of them.

A poor family with dozens of kids not only suffer from lack of food but also from lack of education for the children and the hopelessness for a good future.

No one, not even the Church can convince each and everyone of us to abstain from sex if we do not want a child. No matter how we try, more and more people around the world engage in sexual activities that do not initiate pro-creation.

Maybe I would agree with what the Church wanted for pro-creation if and only if they will help the government in supporting poor families with more than 5 children. Maybe I would have respected their desire to stop the use of contraceptives if and only if they will be concered with what lies ahead for the large families who only has one spoon to feed each member.

Using contraceptives is still a matter of choice for couples. Responsible sex can not only prevent future problems with pregnancy and illness but can also help our children to not experience a line of poverty that we never wanted them to experience.

Children's Playground

When I was at my brother's clinic, I got bored and started staring at stuff around me. =p

I caught a glimpse of our PLDT DPC White Pages and eventually stared at the cover. After a few seconds of staring, words started running inside my head and I was able to create this simple poem.

CHILDREN'S PLAYGROUND

They sing, they dance, they play, they laugh;
The world seems to be their large playground where they play like tomorrow's not gonna come.
But their playground slowly becomes junk,
For their leaders threw garbage all over the place.
Abuse, crime, negligence, corruption filled their once innocent world.
They slowly became aware of what's happening around them.
Slowly, they become like their leaders; slowly becoming what they see.
Their huge playground is becoming a huge compost pit.
Little minds became dirty, little eyes only see violence, little lips speak abuse.

Will their playground go back to what it used to be?
Can their leaders take concern on their future?
Or will they grow up, not knowing how their world will end?

They are nation's hope, but for how long? Chances are, they will become a threat to the future.
The world is for our children. Let us do something for their better future.
