Kou Shibasaki as Yumi Nakamura

Though the police determine the death a suicide, Yumi grows even more concerned when another friend receives a threatening message on his cell-phone, presaging another death.

The two investigate the woman's last known whereabouts, an abandoned hospital. Once there, Yumi confronts a vengeful ghost in an attempt to break the chain of violent deaths. - WIKIPEDIA

REVIEW:

This movie was really fun! This was so far the only good Japanese horror movie for me since The Ring and The Grudge.

Indeed, Japanese ghosts have a hi-tech way of killing people. Through a cellphone which is of course, a trend in the country.

I love the way the characters die on the time of their death and I love the way they were forewarned about thier death. There were also scenes where I get goosebumps and I get a bit scared, especially when there were parts where I get surprised by a sudden appearance of the "ghost".

It was also a very unbelievable ending. As the mystery has been solved, I couldn't actually believe who the ghost was and who was doing all those deaths.

I also love the creepy ring tone used in this movie. So much different from the one used in the Hollywood version. This one was scarier. I remembered before when my friend told me that she has a "One Missed Call" ring tone and played it for me. I haven't seen the movie yet that time so I just ignored it when I heard it.

But as I've watched the movie last night, I kinda got obsessed ith the ring tone and the moment I woke up this morning, I immediately downloaded it and made it my main Message Alert tone and Ring Tone as well.

I haven't seen the Hollywood version of this movie yet but I'm sure nothing can surpass the way this movie was made.

Art of the Devil

SYNOPSIS

ART OF THE DEVIL is a Thai horror film focusing on the investigation into the sensational murder of a millionaire's family.

After police fail to uncover the evidence needed to charge the millionaire's mistress, a young crime reporter discovers how the woman committed the murders... she used the dark art of witchcraft!

REVIEW:

So it wasn't really a horror film but it has the participation of the "other beings" as the story focuses on a revenge of a mistress who was abused and abandoned by a wealthy man as she got pregnant with their baby.

There were a lot of gruesome scenes in this movie but I think there are more gruesome ones in the second movie which of course, I haven't seen yet because it wasn't available in the collection that I got.

It was pretty devastating on how the revenge on the wealthy man became a serial killing activity as the mistress also killed the man's family.

The Victim

Pitchanart Sakakorn as Ting/May

SYNOPSIS:

Ting is a struggling young actress who one day is noticed by Royal Thai Police Lieutenant Te, who heads up the crimes re-enactment unit and is always on the look-out for fresh talent. Ting is put to work playing the victim in photo shoots with the hand-cuffed accused killers and rapists at crime scenes. The photos are published in Thai newspapers as a means of the police publicizing that they have closed the case and done their jobs.

Ting takes a liking to her job, and is so convincing that even the criminals are moved to remorseful tears. Her popularity soaring, Ting is signed to play the lead in a film based on one of her true-crime re-enactments - the murder of Meen, a former Miss Thailand whose husband, Dr. Charun, is accused of the crime. Ting then starts experiencing some scary visions that lead her believe that Meen's longtime friend, Fai, is responsible.

Then it is revealed that the events were actually entirely a film about Meen's murder, and Ting is merely a character being played by another actress named May. - WIKIPEDIA

REVIEW:

Just like any other Asian movies, everything will be understood at the end. Just like what the synopsis has said, everything from the beginning is believed to be actually happening but in the end, you'll realize that everything was only a part of a film being made for the life of Ting, an aspiring actress who worked as a re-enactment actress for the national police.

As things have twisted after the true plot has been revealed, we will also soon discover that everyone, including May has fallen to be the VICTIM of an evil spirit.

Alone

Marsha Wathanapanitch

SYNOPSIS:

Looking roughly at Pim’s life, she is just another ordinary woman. She moved from Thailand and started a new life in Korea with her caring and loving husband. But one night, a phone call from Thailand changes her life forever. Pim learns that her mother is gravely ill with an unknown disease, and she and her husband Lee rush back to Thailand.

The moment she arrives in Thailand, the flashbacks begin-painful memories, long buried, along with a strange familiar feeling. These things only grow stronger, as she reaches the house where she grew up. She is inundated with a nostalgia that is sweet, but with an undercurrent of terror, a realization that someone is “there,” right beside her, always. And that someone had always been there.

The secret of Pim and her family has slowly been revealed: she was once a Siamese twin! Ten years ago, Pim and her conjoined twin sister underwent as operation to separate them. But her sister died during the attempt. And now, Pim suddenly feels her presence once more, relentlessly.

Will she regain the normal life she once had – her own and hers alone?had – her own and hers alone?

REVIEW:

At first, I actually thought this film was a Korean film because the setting started in Korea where Pim lived peacefully with her husband.

But as things went by in Thailand, a lot of things happened that made me stick my eyes on the screen for the whole time, asking questions on "WHY" and "HOW"

The great twist on the story will make you think about a lot of possibilities as the film was running. It will make you impatient about what will happen in the end and how the "ghost presence" was connected with what was happening to the main character.

Then as the secrets unfold, things also become drastically different, from ghosts to obsessed lovers, to serial killings. ALONE will really rack your brain until the end of the movie.ally rack your brain until the end of the movie.

Evasive Inquiry Agency

Lee Min Ki - Park Moo Yeol
Lee Eun Seong - Yoo Eun Jae
Ye Ji Won - Jung Hee Kyul
Ryu Seung Soo - Kim Yong Soo

Synopsis:

Moo Yeol is a taekwondo instructor who falls for Eun Jae at first sight when she comes and asks him to help her find gold treasures at the agency. Hee Kyung is a tarot card master and Yong Soo is a manhwa shop owner who passes his days with no dreams nor hopes but gets involved in the gold hunting simply for fun. Moo Yeol, Hee Kyung, and Yong Soo gather together at the empty Inquiry Agency office and they discover a dead corpse in the basement. The four of them later decide to start a treasure hunting project.

This is also a drama without a love story.

Review:

This is the first time that I've seen a Korean series without a love story. But indeed, this series was able to prove that it doesn't need a love story between two persons for the story to become extraordinary.

This series has a mixture of drama, fun and action all in one moment. There were some scenes where you'll cry but will end up laughing.

The story was also quite unique. It was also my first time to watch something as unique as this since it didn't involve any love triangle, strict parents, forbidden love but it involves a TREASURE HUNTING story; probably the only treasure hut story in the history of Korean series.

The way the puzzles were solved, the time alloted for each of the clues to be deciphered were all so well calculated and it can also help you learn some of the Korean history with a mixture of fiction.

Every episode will really leave you hanging, hence would make you crave for more episodes. Indeed, I didn't have any boring moment as I've watched all 16 episodes of this series.

Each character in this story al had their own struggles in life, whether they be poor or rich, but friendship has brought them together and loyalty has made their bond stronger.

200 Pounds of Beauty - Jo Jin Mo and Kim Ah Jong

Jo Jin Mo
Kim Ah Jong

Synopsis: Hanna is a lip sync vocalist for Ami, the famous Korean pop singer. Even though she is always ignored because of her appearance, she has been a bright and lighthearted girl until Amy humiliates her in front of Sang-jun, her secret love. At last she makes a decision of a lifetime to have plastic surgery all over her body. Her unrequited love gets any return?

Review: I actually couldn't believe that I've watched this movie just now. I mean I've actually spent a year ignoring it when a lot of people were already compelling me to watch it.

So I did. Because of MJ, of course! haha! And yeah, I had fun while watching this movie.

It was quite amazing watching a 200-pound woman turn into a hot chick in just a year.

It was my first time watching Kim Ah Jong act and she was really cute in this movie. Seems like no matter how much she tried to become someone else for her love, she still ended up becoming herself.

I've cried so much in the last part of this movie, where everything touching was shown and told in just one scene. Indeed, it's a really wonderful movie.

I Am Sam - Yang Dong Geun and Park Min Young

Yang Dong Geun as Jang Yi San
Park Min Young as Yoo Eun Byul
T.O.P as Chae Moo Shin
Son Tae Young as Shin So Yi

Synopsis: The story focuses on the conflicts between the young teachers and the problems that high school students have. Jang Yi San is a timid and incompetent classical music teacher who has to teach the only daughter of a highly dangerous mob leader. Eun Byul is the mob leader's daughter and she is also a new student at MyungMoon High but knows nothing whatsoever.

Review: Although it may seem absurd, I believe that somehow, a teacher and a student also have the right to fall in love with each other.

This 16-episode series showed the typical struggles a korean high school experiences; both the teachers and the students.

As it focused on one student, the other one was neglected and so each of them must be treated fairly so as not to create conflicts.

This is a really funny series. Teacher Jang was a typical homeroom teacher with his eyes only set upon his fellow teacher. But when a new student arrived and changed his life, he also has changed his views.

The story of this series wasn't much as interesting as the others that I've seen but it actually made me laugh, angry and sad at the same time.

There are lots of weird stuff happening in this series but it ended the way viewers wanted it to end: a happily ever after for the main characters.

SAW IV - Tobin Bell

Synopsis: Jigsaw and his apprentice Amanda are dead. Upon the news of Detective Kerry's murder, two seasoned FBI profilers, Agent Strahm and Agent Perez, arrive at the depleted police precinct and help veteran Detective Hoffman sift through Jigsaw's latest grizzly game of victims and piece together the puzzle. However, when SWAT Commander Rigg, the last officer untouched by Jigsaw, is suddenly abducted and thrust into the madman's harrowing game, the officer has but ninety minutes to overcome a series of interconnected traps...or face the deadly consequences.

Review: I am actually a huge fan of Saw. I've seen the previous movies from the first one which was shown last 2005 until the third one which I believed was the last Saw movie.

Until my brother bought the "pirated" DVD of Saw IV. It surprised me actually because I was like, "Hey, Jigsaw was already in dead in the third movie, how come there is still the fourth?"

And so I watched. And it surprised me on how the movie got more twisted and more gross! haha!

I really can't help but be amazed with the writers of this movie. From the first movie to the last, even though we've already known who the killer was after the first movie, it was still too confusing as how the movie twists went from the beginning 'til the end.

It was really amazing because unlike any other typical serial killing movies, this movie actually teaches people to value life no matter how helpless they may seem.

Although we knew that John - or Jigsaw as he was popularly known to many - only wanted to teach his victims a lesson, we also couldn't deny the fact that he is a serial killer. A killer who has a penchant of torturing his victims both physically and psychologically.

When I watched the Saw series, it actually scared me. Scared me to the point that I never wanted to waste my life again just like what Jigsaw's victims did. It taught me to love myself, my profession and most especially the people around me.

It may seem weird but this gruesome movie brought positive feedbacks especially when I think about how much people have wasted their time trying to perfect their not-so-perfect lives.

I also salute Tobin Bell's acting even though he only showed up as the cancer-tortured John in the movie, I couldn't agree more as MTV Movie Awards awarded him "Best Villain" two years in a row.

Enchanted - Patrick Dempsey and Amy Adams

Synopsis: The tale follows the beautiful princess Giselle as she is banished by an evil queen from her magical, musical animated land--and finds herself in the gritty reality of the streets of modern-day Manhattan. Shocked by this strange new environment that doesn't operate on a "happily ever after" basis, Giselle is now adrift in a chaotic world badly in need of enchantment. But when Giselle begins to fall in love with a charmingly flawed divorce lawyer who has come to her aid--even though she is already promised to a perfect fairy tale prince back home--she has to wonder: can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world?

Review: Well, just like any other Walt Disney movies, Enchanted is also a super fairy tale story only made to be in a so called LIVE ACTION film.

It started with the typical cartoon scenes with the maiden finding the prince and falling in love at first sight.

But the wonder of this movie is that it actually compared and contrasted the love in a fairy tale and the love felt in the real world. Indeed, we might say that it's a childish movie but if we deeply understand the meaning of the story, we will know what it actually wanted to tell us.

Love, in the real world is so not the same as a fairy tale love. When we were little kids, we always dreamed to be a princess just like in a fairy tale. We dreamed of meeting our prince, and sharing our first kiss with them, but on the contrary, we know that those dreams will remain as dreams.

Because there are no such things as love at first sight, waiting for the knight in shining armour to come and waking up after receiving the true love's first kiss.

In the real world, we have love struggles. We have arguments, misunderstandings, long conversations, datings, getting to know each other and sharing the first kiss with passion and meaning.

In the real world, Happily Ever After doesn't come by like the wind. It comes after having been tormented by the evil witch aka the mother-in-law and after trust has been broken or fidelity has been challenged

But just like any other fairy tales out there, we can make our love grow deep and we can also have our own happily ever after, if sincerity in love is shown.

I was also mesmerized by this movie's soundtracks. No wonder it has been nominated in the Oscar's and indeed it won.

I Graduated Just Now??

Yes, A huge question mark. I had my super duper late graduation today.

A graduation without my batchmates.

A graduation with younger colleagues.

A graduation with my fellow LATE GRADUATES.

A graduation after practicing my profession.

But still, a graduation worth being put in our memories.

So I had this "second thoughts" thing about graduating actually. I finally decided to try marching wearing a toga even if it isn't actually my year of graduation.

I herded my other friends who haven't graduated in our batch and I had Jericho, Erickson, Vernie and Glenn with me.

I thought it'll be awkward but it was indeed fun. Erickson kept on joking that kids were all around us during our practices because indeed, those graduates we were with were a lot younger than us.

How funny has it seemed. But it was a memorable experience. Receiving a fake diploma, transferring my tassel from the left to the right and bowing before a huge number of people onstage, is something worth not forgetting.

Indeed, I didn't regret graduating or let's say marching for graduation this year although it wasn't with my original batchmates. =]

Janina San Miguel - Bb. Pilipinas World

Ok, the telecast for the pageant was shown last Saturday but I was out partying with my friends so I wasn't actually able to watch it.

My friends who have seen the telecast told me about this Bb. Pilipinas World and how she embarrassed herself during the Q & A portion. I wasn't informed well so last night, my brother showed me her video in Youtube.

So I watched.

Paolo Bediones: Janina, how are you?
Janina San Miguel: I'm fine.
Paolo Bediones: Alright, so you won two of the major awards - Best in Long Gown, Best in Swimsuit, do you feel any pressure right now?
Janina San Miguel: No, I don't feel any pressure right now.
Paolo Bediones: Confident! Alright! Please choose a name of the judge.
Paolo Bediones: We have Miss Vivienne Tan.
Vivienne Tan: Good Evening.
Janina San Miguel: Good Evening.
Vivienne Tan: The question is, what role did your family play to you as candidate to Binibining Pilinas?
Janina San Miguel: Well, my family's role for me is so important b'coz there was the wa- they're, they was the one who's... very... Hahahaha... Oh I'm so sorry, Ahhmm... My pamily... My family... Oh my god... I'm...
(Paolo Bediones: Pwede ka magtagalog,ok lang) Ok, I'm so sorry... I... I told you that I'm so confident... Eto, Ahhmm, Wait... Hahahaha, Ahmmm, Sorry guys because this was really my first pageant ever b'coz I'm only 17 years old and ahahaha I, I did not expect that I came from, I came from one of the taf 10. Hmmm, so... but I said dot my family is the most important persons in my life. Thank you.

All througout the 2-minute video feed, my hand was on my mouth and I was saying, "Oh My God" over and over. When the video ended, Kuya asked me, "Unsa man imong masulti?" (What can you say?). I was like, "Kuya, Oh My God!"

Yeah, that was the reaction I had when I saw the video. OH MY GOD. I couldn't believe that she was able to win Bb. Pilipinas World with what she did.

I mean, setting the grammatically wrong sentences aside, she wasn't able to answer the question that even a grade school student could answer. Her answer had a lot of twists and her bottomline was "her family's role was very important" which as a matter of fact, didn't answer the question.

Paolo Bediones told her that she can speak Tagalog but she didn't do it, she continued on embarrasing herself as she spoke. "I did not expect that I came from, I came from one of the taf 10." Okay, so it took me a while to decipher the true meaning of that statement. Probably, she meant that she didn't expect to be chosen as one of the TOP 10. In fact, I DIDN'T EXPECT IT, TOO! hahaha!! That was a really crazy pageant and the fact that she won Bb. Pilipinas World, I could say that there was something fishy going on.

The news said that she is an AB Mass Communication student. I personally couldn't believe that a Masscom student wasn't able to construct simple English sentences and yeah, someone like her was able to make it into the pageant.

The news also mentioned that she was being compared to Melanie Marquez, but as far as I can remember, Melanie won Miss International because she was able to answer the judge's question correctly even though she had some flaws in her English grammar. I myself couldn't even bring to compare the two of them. Because Melanie may not know how to speak English well, but she can answer a question correctly.

I agree with what Ruffa Gutierrez said. The pageant isn't only about beauty and body. It should also be about intellect and your ability to even speak the INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE properly.

A lot of people who commented in Youtube said that Janina shouldn't be laughed at in fact, she should be supported because there were even other international candidates who don't know how to speak English as well.

But that wasn't my point. My point was the fact that she spoke so confidently with that grammar that only she has known and with that answer that only she was able to understand was what was embarrassing.

It's not an issue of language. It's an issue of INTELLECT and the ability to understand. If she wasn't able to understand the question clearly, then she could have asked for anyone to translate it so that she would be able to understand. She wasn't able to answer the question. Or maybe she was, just that we knew that that wasn't actually the answer because the question was WHAT and not WHY.

Just like what she said at the end, her bottomline was that her family are the most important persons in her life. Did that answer the question?

Think again:

QUESTION: What role did your family play to you as candidate to Binibining Pilipinas?
JANINA's ANSWER: but I said dot my family es the most important persons in my life. Thank you.

Have you thought enough?

Why is it still aching?

Everything’s over, right? There should be no YOU and ME anymore

There should be YOU and HER this time.

The day you broke my heart, the day you made me cry, the day you destroyed my trust, was the day when we were over; supposedly over.

It took a while for me to move on; to recover; to stand up again.

It hasn’t been hard for you because you got her. You got her and I let you go.

I tried so hard to get rid of this pain I was feeling since you left me. I tried hard not to make things complicated for the two of you.

But you made me hold on. You asked me to stay although we knew we couldn’t be the same again.

Things have changed as time passed by. I wasn’t supposed to be hurting anymore. I was supposed to smile whenever I meet you with her.

Because I agreed to be your best friend again, and I agreed to treat her right again.

But I couldn’t do it. I just couldn’t try and be nice to someone who stole half of my heart from me. I just can’t smile lightheartedly to someone who took you away from me.

So I couldn’t be nice and because I wasn’t nice, I was hurt more.

Because you tried to make us get along well and made me change myself for her.

But why me? Why should I do it I the first place? Why should I follow you and be nice to someone who stole you away from me.

And due to my bitterness, I became the bad girl; the bad “ex-girlfriend”.

I became bad in the eyes of her friends, in the eyes of your friends. And you know what hurt me more? Because you didn’t stand up for me.

You allowed those people to scrutinize me; to judge me; to make me feel bad.

You tolerated her insecurities and allowed her to spread bad rumors about me; allowed her friends to think ill of me; to believe that I was trying to steal you back from her.

Lately, I was trying to be happy. To forget all about you, all about her, all about us.

But why am I still aching? Why do I still feel the pain in my heart whenever I think about the two of you?

Am I being insecure myself? Am I being like her? Am I being like my rival just because my heart still beats for you?

Do I really have to stay like this? Do I have the right to stay like this? Do you have the right to put me in this misery for almost three years?

I don’t know the answers to my questions anymore. I don’t even know if I would be able to forget you in the future.

But all I know now is that my heart still aches for you and I still get jealous of her.

Marcherry's Birthday. =]

Okay, so I guess I was just too excited to blog about this. Dhawell, I beat you! haha!

Yesterday, I received a text message from Marcherry inviting me to her birthday. Ok so who is Marcherry? Familiar? Well she was the one of those I mentioned in the blog I posted before with a picture of her and Akeem at Lake Agco.

So Marcherry and I know each other although we haven't actually hang out together yet so I might say we aren't really close. Just common friends with Akeem and Dhawell so it surpirsed me when she invited me.

I texted Dhawell and I told March that I'm going to go. The party was supposed to start at 8pm. I came late because it rained and I have to wait for my brother to come back to drive me to Crown Regency because taxis weren't available at that time.

Luckily, we're Filipinos. The party started at 9pm. I was so happy to see Tracy and Ceejaye with Kuya Kid there because it has been so long since I've seen them and I've missed them so much.

So we ate dinner and had some games afterwards. Ceejaye won on the San Mig Light Bottoms Up contest and she won a gift certificate from SM City.

Then we had more games afterwards, the drinking games and the grand prize was a date with March, of course. Dhawell mentioned it will be at Pearl Farm and he and Akeem will be paying. Oh jeez, kill yourself, Dhawell! haha!

At around 11pm, I guess when the after-party has started and March became busy entertaining other guests, the TAEBOIZ arrived. Yay! Yes, them! haha! I missed them so much actually and I was just too happy to see them again.

Since they were there, then the inuman sessions started. Tequila, Fundador, Red Horse, Vodka Cruiser, Mudshake, Coke and Water! haha! I took a drink since I haven't seen them for so long, I think I should pay some price also for not going with them before.

As the guys went drunk, the night got deeper, we all became happier with our singing sessions. Since the party was held on a Residencial Hotel, we were even told off by the Task Force because our voices were disturbing the other occupiers.

It was really fun. I mean I haven't done this with them for such a long time and God knows how much I love and miss these people.

So yeah, I went home at around 4:30 am. I woke up at 8, imagine that! Body clock never stops functioning! haha!

Marcherry, today's actually your birthday! So HAPPY BIRTHDAY! and thank you so much for inviting me! Hope you'll have a good time when you go to London.

27 Dresses

Sypnosis: Jane is idealistic, romantic and completely selfless--a perennial bridesmaid whose own happy ending is nowhere in sight. But when younger sister Tess captures the heart of Jane's boss--with whom she is secretly in love--Jane begins to reexamine her "always-a-bridesmaid..." lifestyle.

Review: always a Bridesmaid, Never a Bride. That's Jane Nichols, alright. A selfless favorite bridesmaid played by Katherine Heigl.

This movie is about a woman's selfless love to people whom she knew are very important to her and soon, she was unable to find her own self, or even her own life.

This is a typical love story of a woman who wore 27 Dresses on a wedding which were not hers and a man, just trying to upgrade his status on a newspaper column. Together they met, had some adventures and fell in love.

27 Dresses shows women that probably the reason why they don't get married in times that they wanted to was because they were actually neglecting the right men who re already in front of them as they tried to be noticed by the wrong ones.

The Water Horse - Legend of the Deep

Synopsis: Angus, a young Scottish boy, finds an enchanted egg. Taking it home, he soon finds himself face-to-face with an amazing creature: the mythical "water horse" of Scottish lore. Angus begins a journey of discovery, facing his greatest fears and risking his life to protect a secret that would give birth to a legend.

Review: I know that the Water Horse is a story derived from the legend of the Loch Ness monster. A monster spotted in Loch Ness, Scotland sometime during the war in the 1930's. Many claimed that this "monster" was real but as years went by, it has merely became a legend.

This was the most popular photo taken of the believed monster sometime in 1934. Many said it was fake and some believed that it was real and that the monster existed.

Because of the legend, a fictional story of the Loch Ness monster has been created and that was what I watched together with Dhawell I think last Wednesday.

In the movie, amidst the war happening between Scotland and the Nazis of Germany, a kid named Angus found comfort and friendship with this legendary monster called the Water Horse. It was beleved that the Water Horse only lays an egg when it gets old and before the egg hatches, the parent dies living the newborn Water Horse as an orphan.

It was only a legend thought but Angus, her sister and the house's handyman believed that it esxisted as they took care of it.

It was such a cute childish movie but since Dhawell and I loved fantasy movies like this one, we well appreciated the story of love and trust between humans and monsters.

Plus, in the movie, the picture I posted above was made to be fake as a journalist tried hard to capture a photo of the monster and because he failed, he made a fake dummy of the Water Horse and took a shot of it on the sea, resulting to that photo which has already been known around the world.

The Queen of the Game - Joo Jin Mo & Lee Bo Young

Joo Jin Mo - Lee Shin Jeon/Chase Lee
Lee Bo Young - Kang Eun Seol
Choi Joon Young - Kim Pil Suh
Kim Soo Hyun - Park Joo Won

Synospsis:
23 years ago, Kang Eun Seol's father, Kang Jae Ho, stole the position of Lee Shin Jun's father. This led to Lee Shin Jun's father to commit suicide with his wife and son. Now 23 years later, Lee Shin Jun, also known as Chase, wants revenge and isn't going to stop until he gets it. He makes Kang Eun Seol fall for him, so that he can get to her father. But there is a twist, Lee Shin Jun has also fallen in love with Kang Eun Seol, but Lee Shin Jun's partner, Park Joo Won loves him too... Later Eun Seol finds out about Shin Jun's revenge plot against her father and she decides to get revenge on him for using her..

Review:

Story: I actually didn't know how the synopsis said that eun Seol took revenge after finding out that Shin Jeon just used her to get back to her father when no revenge actually happened as I watched the whole 20 episodes.

Well, Eun Seol pretended that she took revenge but it was only to end the war between the two families as she realized that they can never be together as long as her father's still alive, and Shin Jeon's mother as well.

Actually, I only took a risk in watching this series because I never knew about it at all. I mean, I only read the synopsis and told myself, why not try watching this? This is the first time for me to see Joo Jin Mo act, aside from some bits and pieces in Fashion 70's, and Lee Bo Young as well.

I knew Joo Jin Mo was also the lead in the blockbuster Korean hit movie, 200 Pounds of Beauty with actress Kim Ah Jong although unfortunately, I haven't seen that movie yet no matter how many times I promise that I would.

They did not fail me though. As I've watched the whole 20 episodes, I've been mesmerized by how well the story went and how well the episodes have connected with each other. Each episode ended with a nice cliffhanger that makes you want to sit down and watch another hour of the next episode.

This series tells a story about revenge and how love has won over evil deeds. It told a legend of undying love and patience until they reached onto a happy ending. I was never bored in every episode and I know I will really not fail if I recommend this to other k-series lovers.

Characters: The character that I loved most here was of course, Kang Eun Seol. All throughout the series, she has shown her tough side and her ability to move a person by love. Being brought up in a welthy family, she has never looked down on people who weren't on her level and she fought for what she believed was right even though it meant breaking her father's heart.

As she fell down together with the illness of her father, she learned to stand on her own feet and fight for life as she got bothered again by the same person whom she loved and left years ago. =]

Trip to Zamboanga

So I'll just write a Time-table here to show you how my trip to Zamboanga went. =]

First of all, the reason why I went to Zamboanga was because I wanted to experience long travels and since my mom has a Mindanao Congress there, I took the chance.

We were supposed to take the plane which will take around 30-45 minutes from Davao to Zamboanga but I thought it'll be too boring if we'll do that so I told mom that I wanted to travel by bus. Since land travel takes around 18-20 hours from Davao to Zamboanga. Plus, you'll be mesmerized by the beauty of nature!

Mom and I went to the Davao Terminal to catch the 10pm bus. We went early because mom wanted to sit in front.

10:00pm
The bus started it's six-hour journey to Cagayan de Oro via Buddha. At around 11pm, we reached Buddha and since it rained that night, the road was so foggy with zero-visibility that the bus has to slow down to avoid any unecessary accidents. Then I slept afterwards.

February 21, 2008

4:00am

We reached Cagayan de Oro. We took a Multicab going to the other terminal where we will wait for three hours for the first trip to Zamboanga. It wasn't a long wait because I had fun at Dunkin' Donuts which was open for 24 hours.

6:30am
The bus going to Zamboanga arrived and mom and I sat in front once more. The television went on and we had some Resident Evil marathon.

7:00am
Bus started its journey to Zamboanga. I wondered how would it feel to be inside the bus for 12 hours. haha! Sun Cell signal went down.

9:00am
We stopped over at "Iligan" terminal. We stayed for around 30 minutes there because the door of the bus was fixed.

9:30 am
Journey restarted. We stopped over several terminals and we passed by several known cities such as Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Zamboanga del Sur, Pagadian, Sibugay, Ipil.

8:00pm
Finally! We arrived at Zamboanga terminal. Mom and I expected to see a cab pass by but we were surprised when they told us that there were no regular taxis there and that we have to take the "tricycle" to be able to go where we wanted to go.

8:20pm
we arrived at La Casa Maria. The hotel that was booked by mom's congregation for us to stay in. Finally, I can tuck in with a nice bed.

10:00pm
I went to sleep as I realized it has been almost 24 hours that I was awake with only little nap times.

February 22, 2008

8:00am
I woke up and mom said we should hurry so we could go out and explore the city.

9:30 am
We went to Jollibee to have our breakfast. I was talking to Nicca on the phone. Then we went to the "bayan" or what we call downtown here in Davao to explore the mall. So the Mindpro Citimall, the beautiful Immaculate Conception Cathedral and the Ateneo de Zamboanga University were located there.

10:00am
We went inside Mindpro Citimall. I was amazed because I felt like I was in Spain inside the mall because the department store music was in Spanish and the announcements and poster warnings were in Spanish and yeah, people speak Chavacano, the broken Spanish language that only Zamboanga people could speak.

11:30am
We had lunch at the Foodcourt then we went back to the hotel to rest. Indeed, I was still tired after the 21-hour journey that we had from Davao the other day.

February 23, 2008

Mom went to her Congress at 8am and I went out on my own to Mindpro at around 9:30 am to meet Apple! Yeah, I met my daughter for the first time!

She was busy that day so we weren't able to spend a lot of time together. We only had a little chat at the foodcourt and she told me the places worth going into in Zamboanga. At around 11:30 am, she already left for her business and so, I ate my lunch and went out to Fort Pilar.

Apple told me that the Fort was made years ago to prevent the invasion as Nuestra Sra. del Pilar saved the Zamboanga people.

The fort has a shrine. A very beautiful shrine where you can pray and light a candle. It also has a National museum, but the museum was closed because it was the weekends.

I was supposed to go to Pasonanca. A park near Apple's abode but the heat of the sun was melting me so I decided to go back to the hotel and probably just go out again in the afternoon.

But I fell asleep and woke up at around 4 pm. I was so damn beat so I decided not to go out anymore and I waited for mom to come home and we ate dinner at the hotel restaurant.

February 24, 2008

Mom went to her Congress again and I just stayed back at the hotel and watched Disney Channel until 12 noon. We checked out of the hotel, had our lunch and went to the terminal for our next journey to Iligan.

Since the Iligan-bound bus will leave at 6pm, we took the Pagadian-bound bus and when we got there at around 7pm, we took another bus to Iligan.

We arrived at Iligan at around 12 midnight and we fetched a Public Utility (PU) car. He took us to another hotel and we booked him to bring us to Ma. Cristina Falls and Tinago Falls the next day.

I dropped onto the bed and fell asleep after a while.

February 25, 2008

I woke up at around 6am with a beat head but I was immediately filled with excitement as I though about our plans for this day.

We checked out of the hotel at around 8am and kuya Jeffrey, the PU driver fetched us and took us on tour.

I was amazed because Iligan has this Kalesa or a horse-drawn carriage and kuya Jeffrey told us that it was actually being used as transportation around downtown Iligan.

Then our next stop was the Maria Cristina Power Plant. It was known in the Philippine Education that the Maria Cristina Falls in Iligan is the number one source of energy in Mindanao. In fact, it supplies around 40% of energy in Davao City.

We were toured inside by the guard and I was amazed at how beautiful the Falls was. The guard said that that wasn't fully opened yet because they fully open the dam every Sundays at around 11 in the morning. We went there Monday.

But even if it wasn't on full blast, I still found it wonderful and I was thankful at how well the people in Mindanao was able to think of ways to use nature in our necessities.

Then afterwards, we were taken to Tinago Falls, another Iligan wonder. Kuya Jeffrey briefly told us about the history of the falls. He said that at around Year 2000, the resort was fully developed. There was a mini zoo and there were cottages for overnight staying.

But it was foreclosed by the bank and afterwards, it was owned by the government and the development stopped. The animals in the zoo were taken away and the cottages weren't maintained.

Indeed, when we got there, I was disappointed with the resort and surprised that with only a 10 PHP entrance fee, we will already be able to go and enjoy the falls.

We went down 265 steps accompanied by the falls guide named Joel. He's gay, by the way.

It was such a tiring journey but everything was wiped away when I was finally able to see the falls. It was such a beauty and no matter how bad the resort up above looked, it was nothing compared to how amazing the falls looked.

A lot of people say that this falls was enchanted because there were already a lot who drowned and died while bathing in. But Joel told us that most of the visitors who drown there were those who swim without lifevests and men who go and explore the midst of the falls without anything to protect them.

So I took my lifevest and started swimming down the falls. Indeed, even though I knew how to swim, the strong current from the falls scared me and made me realize that lifevests sure are helpful. Because even though you knew how to swim, if you aren't familiar with the place, it'll really feel different and really scary.

So I didn't have much fun swimming around the falls because I was alone. I mean, it would have been really really fun if I was with friends or my family. So I told my mom that we should definitely go back there with my cousins.

So at around 12 noon, we took the 265 steps up back to civilization. Kuya Jeffrey drove us to Cagayan de Oro where we took the 3:00 pm bus back to Davao City.

We arrived home at around 10 pm and the rest was history. What I've said, I definitely will go back to Zamboanga soon with my cousins and of course, enjoy the beauty of Tinago Falls in Iligan once again.

Alvin and the Chipmunks

Oh how these three legendary Chipmunks love Christmas!

Ok, let's say the movie wasn't a total 5-stars for me but Alvin, Simon and Theodore are!

They totally rock especially their cute little voices!

The movie was quite disappointing though but yeah, thanks to the great Chipmunk acting, I was able to sit through it until the end.

Alvin, simon and Theodore were not your typical chipmunks. Because they don't only talk English, they can also sing.

That brought them to fame but fame has all it. For these little kids have been abused for money.

Oh well karma has it for the abuser Uncle Ian but cuteness has it for these three "rodents" expecially Thodore! =]

The Bucket List - Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson

A rich corporate businessman and a normal auto mechanic met in the room that they were sharing at the hospital and shared the same fate. Both have cancer and only had 6 months to live. And both had the same goals listed in their Bucket List.

This movie tells us the story of how to live life to the fullest while you were alive. That means living in both the material world and the emotional world.

Travel all you want, do extreme stunts as much as you can, appreciate the beauty of nature and the people around you.

It may be not your normal teen movie but this story can really move you emotionally as you watch how these two different personalities share the same happiness and satisfaction in life.

This movie can really help you appreciate what you've got and try things that you would never dare try as you live in the earth.

It was definitely heart-warming and I salute Freeman and Nicholson's wonderful acting.

My Newest Pinoy Rant...

That title wan't really mine. I got it from this BLOG. I just wanna share the comment that I replied in his blog which goes...

In the light of all the hulabaloo that surrounds Philippine politics right now, allow me to speak up, though my voice may seem small. I'm gonna do it bulleted style. I'm too scattered to construct my thoughts the old fashioned, paragraphed paradigm. So here it is.

* Gut feel tells me not to COMPLETELY BELIEVE everything Jun Lozada is saying.
*It is a given fact that the Philippine bureaucracy is rotten. But that did not start during the Arroyo administration. I know all of us wanted a change, who doesn't, right?!
*Another People Power Revolution won't solve the age-old problem!!!!!!!! Unity is the answer!
*I don't think Cory Aquino is really nationalistic. If she (and the oppositionists) is really nationalistic, she would have thought of the disgust and the bad effect it would have on our economy. Political instability is a big factor in delaying the country's economic growth and we are so fetching good at that!!!!
*We need to get our act together if we all want positive difference!!!!
*But please, no more rallies again. Those things make me numb and apathetic.

And this is my reply:

sometimes, real life can be like those TV series that we watch nowadays. not all TV series were fictional. and so much like a drama as it may seem, what's happening in our politics is definitely real...

but sometimes, i couldn't help but hope that as i watch those senate hearing on TV and such, i could fast forward everything so i may know what'll happen in the end.

i sometimes hope that jun lozada's point of view could be seen 24/7 so i may know about what he was thinking and for me to 100% believe everything he was saying.

as i watch jun lozada deliver his "speech" as what they say, part of me believes that he is telling the truth. in fact, all of me is trying to believe that he was saying was true.

but also, i couldn't supress the fact that sometimes, i hope that i can actually penetrate his mind and read all his thoughts as he speak, so i may know if he really was telling the truth or not.

all these conspiracy happening to our government nowadays are just making the economy more complicated. i admit i want to believe jun lozada and i admit that i am also against GMA's regime but don't you guys think that instead of thinking about whether GMA should stay or not; instead of telling the whole country on whom to believe, we should just go and do something to help our economy rather than skulking along the streets, rallying for what we believed was right?

i have nothing against rallies and such, what i was trying to impose was that i guess it was better to just DO SOMETHING rather than SCREAM SOMETHING...

for i believe that CHANGE can only be done if we work...not if we talk... =]

haha! well i was just sharing. click on the link aboive to view the original posts and thanks to the owner of that blog for allowing me to express what i wanna express. =]

Sweeney Todd

Never Forget...Never Forgive. Indeed, revenge is sweet!

Another outstanding performance from the hottest Hollywood icon, Johnny Depp. This Tim Burton film tells a story about a man who came back for revenge, only to find out that he has done enough damage to make him a demon.

Many people don't appreciate the story of this movie because it may seem weird. But hey, it's Tim Burton, alright! His movies may be weird but they were all spectacular.

Plus, the TIM BURTON film loved actor has created another legend in this musical. Indeed, Johnny Depp has his own charm to make Sweeney Todd someone hot yet evil!

I salute Tim Burton for actually collaborating with Johnny Depp in his past movies including Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the latest animated film before the recent, Corpse Bride. He really made the right choice of letting Johnny Depp act the main roles of the said movies for they have become most realistic because of his magnificent acting skills.

No wonder, every single Johnny Depp film could really earn a lot, not only because he could act great but also because he could make such movies great without even showing a lot of effort on it.

Doon po sa Peryahan!!

Perya...Carnival...A place where everyone becomes a child. It was used in the Pinocchio movie to lure kids onto a trap by Stromboli. Wondered why? Because carnivals really attract a lot of people, children and adults alike.

There are what we call Amusement Parks which I believe is almost a hundred percent different from a carnival. An Amusement Park is more well-known, more modernized and I admit, safer.

Most carnivals I know were those called mobile carnivals where they transfer from one place to another, trying to earn as much money as they can.

And since Davao City is deprived of Amusement Parks such as the Enchanted Kingdom and Star City, we were really amazed when the carnival was risen beside NCCC Mall.

But as I've said, it was a whole lot different from an Amusement Park, but it was fun, especially the "pasugalan" center where you go and bet on a color you want and if the color was chosen, then you can win double or triple the money you bet.

There were also rides and i tried that "Roller Coaster" thing that they had which of course was a hundred percent scarier than real roller coasters. Why? Because of the fact that you'll get scared out of your wits hoping that the trail or your car will hold its position while you're running! haha!

But nonetheless, we got out of it, safe. we had the same thrill anyway, same butterflies in the stomach feeling as the coaster dropped down and yeah, almost the same satisfaction as from the real ride.

Me and my cousin Jane weren't able to enjoy the carnival much last night because oldies were with us, and they were like wanting to go home early already.

So hopefully tomorrow, I'll go back there with Jane still and Jannah. Ü

Salary, oh salary. Wherefore art thou oh salary??

First time to work there and poof! SALARY'S DELAYED! Holy shit! I really can't believe they'll be doing this to me. I mean think about it. It isn't supposed to be a company salary. It's only a personal salary and yet they couldn't give it on time? What? On the 14th? Then would they make sure that they'll add 14 days worth in that delayed salary? Dammit! It was my first time to work there and then I'll get this treatment?

Ok so yeah. My friend and I are going to Club Z tomorrow to ask and ask and ask and probably fuck those guys out!!

I guess it was better to just go back studying. At least allowance don't come late!

Who Would Have Thought??

That a former high school classmate and I would get together because of th same interest? And that is...KOREA!

Yes, Anne Louise or most popularly known in high school as Lot-Lot and I have been communicating with each other again after we found out that we both have this craziness with Korean stuff!

Only...She was a lot better than me! Haha. But I'm learning though. So yeah. It was such a surprise that after around three years of not communicating much, we've actually been brought together by the word, KOREA. The thing I most love.

So we've been working together as English tutors this time and it was a really cool experience especially for me to get really familiar with the thing that most interests me.

So Lot-Lot and I have been getting along well together lately because of this so called craziness. I just can't believe that someone I knew would actually share the same interests with me as I've been journeying alone lately when it comes to Korean Enthusiasm.

The Golden Compass

Seeing the trailer of this movie before, I thought that this is gonna be just another of those Fantasy stories that would disappoint me, just like the Bridge to Terabithia.

But I was surprised at how good the story went. Well, not to mention Nicole Kidman's stunning beauty. This was some kind of a Fantasy story for it didn't actually hide the fact that magic or the supernatural exists. Instead, it showed an entirely different world where everyone knew about the existence of talking animals and supernatural beings such as witches.

The movie was really for kids but for adults as well for I actually tried my best to watch this on the little screen known as the portable DVD player, trying hard to listen to the conversations so I would be able to understand the story.

And through this, I was finally able to understand the real meaning of the Golden Compass. That is, to find the truth and to disapprove the heresy being brought upon the worlds by the Magesterium or commonly known as the government.

This may be a Fantasy movie but as I deeply understood the meaning of the story, I would say that somehow, it could also be rlated to the real world where truth was always hidden from innocent people by the government themselves who run these people.

There are certain persons who wanted to find the truth. Who wanted to go against the government's will and even through death, they will try to fight just in search for the truth. The truth that we knew exist yet believe that doesn't.
