BACKED OUT:
Mai-Mai - she left her money
MADEL - some sort of emergency
LATE:
Joseph and Joan - weren't able to buy tickets.
Since August, my friends and I already had the plan to watch Twilight together. That time, it was still on the December 14th schedule.
We've waited three months and all our excitement and anticipation paid off when we were finally able to watch it on the first day of screening yesterday, November 26th, 2008.
We bought our tickets at 6:00 pm for the 7:30 pm screening. We weren't mistaken. By 7:00pm, all tickets for 7:30 and 10:00 LFS were sold out. Even on the other cinema, tickets for the 8:00 LFS were also sold out. It was amazing. I've never encountered having sold out tickets for one movie in TWO CINEMAS!
The line was definitely long. We were already falling in line by the arcade. Still, we considered ourselves lucky. Because after us, the line kept on going in the back.
Sarte and his girlfriend KC kept on asking what the movie was about! Couldn't help laughing. They were watching the movie without knowing anything about it. Sarte said, "If Neym reccomended it, definitely, it's a good movie!"
So we went in at 7:15. Music was playing. We were waiting with our hearts beating faster than it was used to be. Everytime the music fades, I was like, "Oh my god, not yet, please! Not yet! I'm not ready yet!" Then a sigh would follow when another music plays.
Then it started. It was the first time I ever felt weird when watching a movie. It was different. I was anxious, excited, worried..Everything! And when the Cullens appeared, I was screaming. God! Shame on me! I shouldn't even fell this way, but it was really something that made me terribly feeling sick with excitement!
It was an amazing movie. My friends and I were so satisfied and I wanted to watch it again! Madel and Mai-Mai were planning to watch it on the weekends and I want to go with them! Haha!
So much for an Obssessive Cullen Disorder! =]

Ok, first of all, I didn't know what genre to choose. Fantasy? Horror? But I chose romance. After all, it's a dominant love story.
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG -hyperventilates-
I'm literally experiencing Tachycardia. God! It was so much more than I was expecting. I've been watching novel-based movies lots of times but this is the first time when I am definitely satisfied with how the movie adaptation came about.
So much for a low-budget film. They didn't disappoint the fans who were expecting this movie since day one.
But of course, like any other movie adaptations, Twilight has it's pros and cons. Not that the cons beat the pros! LOL! =]
PROS:
THE CULLENS
Carlisle: He's the palest among the Cullens. Does it have to do with age? Yet, he's the hottest! If a doctor like him would really exist, I think I wouldn't mind having cancer just to see him often! And, he looks like Tom Cruise. What more can you ask for?
Esme: She didn't have much appearances in this film, but I loved the way she greeted Bella on their first meeting. She's the perfect Esme that I was imagining in the book.
Alice: Can't wait for a lot of Alice's in the other movies. She's really got the vibrant aura of a nice sister.
Rosalie: Oh yeah! The bitch has definitely owned Bella in the kitchen!! BWAHAHAHA!!
Jasper: EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, is that you? Ok, Don't get me wrong, he still looks hot. But I wished they got a different Jasper. Although by the middle of the movie, I finally saw the Jasper that I wanted to see. Anticipation helps sometimes. =p
Emmet: He's so huge! Hahahaha!!! And yep, he's funny. He looked so cute when he was cuddling Rosalie after she kinda lost her temper with Bella.
Edward: Save the best for last, they say! For months, the only thing that I wanted to know was, "Did they make a good decision of getting Rob to be Edward?" And the answer is a huge YES! He's perfect! It was unbelievable! He didn't disappoint everyone in portraying the HOTTEST role in the movie-world! Others might not agree with me, but hey, it's me! And watching the movie, I was able to fully understand why it was Rob and not the others. He deserved it. He is exactly the vampire-hottie that I was anticipating to see. He glitters in the sun perfectly, he does the crooked smile like no one else can and yes, he doesn't only dazzle Bella, but everyone in the movie house as well.
THE NOMADS: I like the way the movie introduced James, Laurent and Victoria by making them slaughter poor extras in the movie. That way, those who didn't read the book would be able to understand on why they wanted Bella so much.
THE IMPORTANT ELECTRIC SCENES BETWEEN EDWARD AND BELLA: The book was definitely cut really short to fit the story in a whole 2-hour movie. But then, all the scenes that book fans wanted to see in the movie were there! As in everything! They never missed out one important scene that would make us groan. They merged Bella's discovery and Edward's meadow in one scene yet it hasn't become cheesy. It was awesome! The Edward-Bella argument, the meadow scene, the kissing in the bedroom scene, the lullaby scene, the spider-monkey scene, the Port Angeles scene, the driving Bella to school scene, the hospital scene...They were all perfect! Believe me, I screamed when each scene was shown.
THE BASEBALL GAME: Ok, that was definitely not the way I imagined it. It was a million times better! OMG, while they were playing, I was yelling, "Fuck, that wasn't how I imagined it! OMG! That was awesome!" Jeez, it sounds so over-acting, but believe me, I've got Obssessive Cullen Disorder! =p All the Cullens were superb during the baseball game. If I were there, I would have recorded it probably. Haha! =]
BELLA's PEPPERSPRAY: Charlie was sorta serious in the book, but he was funny in movie. LOL! Funny in a good way, of course. The pepperspray thing really cracked me up. And it made Bella look really stupid when she used it on James. Pathetic move, but then, that only showed that Bella listens to her dad.
EDWARD FAKING HIS SLEEP: And he really looked like he was faking his sleep! I mean, when someone acts like he's asleep, he would definitely look like he was really sleeping. But Edward showed the viewers that he was indeed faking. It worked. He was perfect! =]
THE GRADUATION CAPS: Private joke. No need to elaborate. =p
BELLA's ALMOST TRANSFORMATION: Kristen did great there. It definitely looked like she was in pain. And when Edward sucked her blood, you would definitely think that he wouldn't be able to stop.
VICTORIA IN PROM: Yes, to tell people, "Hey, I'm still coming back to kill the bitch and avenge my mate!"
GLITTERING EDWARD: LOL! Can I pawn him? I was actually thinking he would glitter like really brightly. It was good though. And when he faced Bella while part of him shimmers in the sun, he was at his hottest!
THE COOKING SHOW: That was really funny! WTF, Bella! You definitely made these Vampires learn how to cook!
BELLA's CLUMSINESS: The movie has really shown how clumsy Bella was, even for only a little while. She slipped on the ice, she almost died on an accident, she tripped while walking with Edward in the greenhouse, and the most subtle of all, she was tripping while following Edward through the trees. That really rocked! =p
CONS (I hope you would still read this. I've only got a few. =])
THE VISUAL EFFECTS: It's understandable. Twilight is a low-budget film, but I still couldn't help but comment badly on the GFX that they use. I would often say, "My god, what's wrong with the effects?" It wasn't good. I hope it would improve in New Moon.
THEY MOCKED BELLA's TRUCK: Er, Bella's truck was supposed to look better than the others' vehicles in Forks High School. Forks, Washington is a little behind compared to Phoenix, Arizona.
JESSICA LOOKED SO PLASTIC: She wasn't. At least in Twilight.
SPIDER-MONKEY: Vampires are only capable of jumping at huge lengths and running so fast. NOT CLIMB TREES! What were they thinking? Edward is a vampire, not some sort of a Marvel superhero, for Christ's sake! And if I were Bella and I was brought on a tree top, this would be my dialogue, "Fuck, Edward! Put me down right now!" I'm not afraid of heights, but that would kill me. I just hope they just stuck in the running fast concept. =]
So, that's it. In general, I still love the movie. I have been super in love with the trailer and I wasn't disappointed with the movie. It was unbelievable, and I want to watch it for the second time! Haha!
And yep, I've really come to hate Bella Swan so much. It has to do with jealousy, of course! =p

are these people asking for photo comments that DESPERATE? omg, can't they just sit still and wait for people to comment on the photos they posted?
why do they have to go through your guestbook just to say, "hey, pahingi photo comments!" and not even ask how you are. jeez! they are really getting on my nerves!
i'm not pointing it out to anybody. i've only just encountered two people asking for photo comments. but i've seen a lot of them in my other contacts' guestbooks and they were like so desperate to have that CONTACT's HEADSHOT in their comment boxes!
don't they feel that whenever they ask for photo comments and their recepient would say "ok", that means they were only forced to do so because they were asked? meaning, they really weren't interested in giving those comments. they make comments because they were asked for it.
these people wouldn't die if no one would comment in their albums. i even don't care if people will just browse through my albums but leave nothing except their viewing history. i mean, if they can't have comments, then be it. don't compel them. you're just making tem feel too obliged to make "unrealistic" comments so just you'll have entries in your comment boxes. that's really out of the question!
people are really different nowadays. i wonder why most of them become too desperate to be known in cyberspace that they actually have to BEG for people to look at them.
jeez...you guys are unbelievable!!

rash gave me this idea! gawan ko daw ng blog ang first time na paggamit ko ng bago kong payong sa ulan!
binili ko yung payong ko nung kasagsagan ng sale dito before a halloween. so far, hindi ko pa siya nagamit sa ulan. lagi lang sa araw. haha! alam niyo na, pinoy...nagpapayong pag may araw! haha!!
so anyways, i woke up at 5:30 this morning and i realized na malamig ang panahon. so natulog uli ako...then nagising nanaman ako ng 6am. tulog ulet. haha!! tas 6:30 then final na talaga. tulog ulet.
then yun, nagising ako ng 7am. bumangon nako dahil male-leyt nako. ahahaha..so yun..umuulan. bad trip.

ahahaha!! anu ba naman yung game na yun? it was sooo UNPREDICTABLE! hahaha!!!
ok. i saw this game sa pinoyunderground forum. yung nagbigay ng link, he said it was SCARY AS HELL daw...so i tried to play the game.
i had to wait pa for a couple of hours because it opens from 6pm to 6am daw. hindi ko alam, pwede palang i manipulate ang clock settings ko para ayos. ahaha..
so anyways, i played the game and i was a bit SURPRISED!
because the SCARY AS HELL adjective was a total UNDERSTATEMENT. ahaha...it wasn't scary at all and it almost killed me to wait for it to load. AS IN 48 YEARS MAG LOAD ANG BAWAT LEVEL!
FIRST LEVEL: i have to open a door so i could go out.
SECOND LEVEL: i have to take a picture of this ghost because they said she likes darkness. ahaha..ang hirap habulin. sobrang dilim kase and you can only see the ghost when the camera flashes.
THIRD LEVEL: have to get out of the fire exit
FOURTH LEVEL: play a lullaby to the baby on a correct speed and creep slowly out of the room. ahaha.. I FAILED TWICE in this level. ang hirap i timing ng tempo nung lullaby. tapos ang hirap din i balance nung dot para hindi maingay ang paglalakad. ahaha..
FIFTH LEVEL: this was the part where i got stuck for almost an hour. the instructions said kase, LISTEN TO WHAT THE MADMAN WAS SAYING AND COUNT YOUR WAY OUT. so i was listening to the madman and i was ignoring the whispers in the background. eh ang problema, HINDI KO MAINTINDIHAN ANG SINASABI NG MADMAN. yung pala, you have to listen to the whispers! which changes everytime i fail! ahaha...i almost gave up last night pero i tried my best and after 52 minutes, i was able to get out of that wretched room!
SIXTH LEVEL: click on your picture or a door to get out of the room before you get killed. maganda sana kung may webcam. kase the computer will automatically take your picture in your most scared face. kaso, i have no webcam so walang picture ko na madi-display. ahaha. i had fun watching other pictures though! HOTEL 626 definitely owned them! ahaha!! =p
SEVENTH LEVEL: follow the telephone instructions to be able to go out and...TAPOS NA! ahaha...
akala ko naman, magtatagal ng mga 12 hours yung game. hindi pala. sobrang tagal lang niya mag load. ahaha..
AND I ACTUALLY THOUGHT IT WAS INDEED SCARY AS HELL but i was disappointed! hindi naman pala. with matching kabog pa dibdib ko when i opened the site. kase nga nakakatakot daw. ahaha..
bad trip lang nga pag nag fail ka. lalo na dun sa MADMAN level. ahaha...bwiset yun.
in fairness, what i like about this game was that it isn't consistent. yung instructions ng telephone, the first game i played, puro left and one right lang ang turo niya. pero sa second, left and right na. hehe..
then yung sa codes para makalabas dun sa madman room, hindi mo pwedeng i-memorize. kase kada laro mo, iba't iba ang binubulong na clues. hehe..
it's fun, but not SCARY. oh please, don't ever try to tell me it's scary. i won't buy it anymore. haahha...
pero if you easily get scared, then try playing this game. hahaha!!!

Oh, I can't believe I was able to answer the second Riddle of the Cryptex during Robert Langdon and Sophie Neveau's search for the Holy Grail.
What would he believe is the orb that ought be on Newton's tomb?
At that question, I remembered Newton's theory on gravity and quickly counted the letters that spelled APPLE. it consists of five letters which would also spell the password for the second cryptex. I was right. The password was indeed APPLE!
Anyway, For around twenty minutes after finishing the book, I was kinda disappointed. All throughout my reading, I was beginning to anticipate what the Holy Grail would look like or perhaps, its hiding place.
So it was such a surprise that nobody saw anything. Not me, not robert and Sophie, not even Sir Leigh Teabing.
But then, I realized, that maybe that's the primary purpose of the story. To find the true meaning of the Holy Grail that was kept hidden for centuries, even though it couldn't be seen physically.
Some said that after reading this book, Catholics would have their faith questioned. But I did not. Because most of the history that was written in the book were facts and I have already heard of them even before the book became a phenomenon.
I already knew about the conspiracy theory regarding Christianity. The history of the holy Grail and even the reason behind celebrating December 25th as the birthday of Jesus Christ.
Our deep faith in our God couldn't be simply threatened by a fictional book intended to entertain, not to scare. The Da Vinci code is a book not to destroy our faith as Christians, but to understand the things that we once believed as Satanic.

Poor? Haha! Wala lang. I wasn't much satisfied with the movie kasi. It may have a very different twist in the end, but I've seen better...
I've seen a very similar Thai movie to this only with the exception of the KULAM part. I've made a review about it here. The title was Alone. That movie had the same plot with this movie starring Judy Ann Santos. The twin story and also the ending plot was very much the same.
As I've said, only with the exception of the KULAM part. But when I've found out that Mira has a twin sister, I've already guessed what the ending might be and I wasn't mistaken. I know it was scary and all for others, it was even good for me until I've seen how it ended because it wasn't much ORIGINAL.
Filipinos are already bound to make exceptional horror movies only if they will make their plots more original and unique. I appreciate the scare factor of this movie, but the story just disappointed me. =]
Well anyway, Judy Ann was such an effective actress. Maybe that was one reason why the movie became scary. Because probably if it would be Kris Aquino, I wouldn't stop laughing until the end! =p

SYNOPSIS:
It's been nearly a year since volatile detective Ben Carson was suspended from the NYPD for fatally shooting another undercover officer, an accident that not only cost him his job, but fueled the alcoholism and anger that has alienated his wife and kids and left him crashing on his sister's couch in Queens.
Desperate to pull his life together, Carson takes a job as a night watchman at the burned-out ruins of the Mayflower department store, which was destroyed by a massive fire that devoured numerous innocent lives.
REVIEW:
It's been a while since I've watched a horror movie and fortunately, I wasn't disappointed with this 20th Century Fox movie, Mirrors. It was a great risk watching this movie, I admit because I've often encountered bad horror movies lately that it was already hard for mew to trust new releases.
But Mirrors was something that really satisfied me. The movie doesn't leave anyone puzzled, but scared and worried about what may happen next.
Sutherland also did a very great job in portraying his role from an alcoholic to a deranged victim who had to convince those whom he love to believe him that Mirrors are doing something evil.
This was indeed a scary movie. There were scenes when you scream, be terrified and amazed. I think the most significant part of this movie was Ben and Amy's son, Michael who has been possessed by what resided in the mirror beyond what his parents could imagine.
From Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Department of Mysteries scene.

July 02, 2008. Thursday
Estimated Time of Dream: Between 5:30am-6:00am
People Involved: Rashina, Nate, Aileen, Jordan, Abigail, some unknown girl, Icelle
If I wake up and remember my dream, I'll share it to you, guys
BEACH
The first part of my dream was when I was in a little hut in the middle of the sea with Rash. We were seated on a raft just floating alongside the house. Rash told me something about Wakeboarding and I reckoned that she might want to try it. Not knowing that I would be the one who would pull her when she does the wakeboarding.
Suddenly, the speedboat pulled my raft and I just realized that I was holding the other end of the rope which was pulling Rash. She was actually doing a spectacular wakeboarding without a board! She was just using her bare feet! It was really funny until I accidentally let go of the rope and Rash fell onto the water.
TRAIN
Then we swam back to shore. In front of the shore where we were resting was a huge planter with glass windows on top and just on the other side of the window was a bus and seated there were Nate, Gail, Jordan and Aileen. They beckoned me to go to them and so I did. They asked why I wouldn't go with them, and I said because I already made plans with Rash and others in wakeboarding. They said they understand and the bus was about to leave when I realized that it was a train, not a bus.
I ran to the other end of the planter to keep on talking to them while the train gathered speed. Then, I found myself inside the train without meaning to and my friends, whom I was just talking with earlier weren't there anymore. Instead, I was looking at Chinese people seating in their compartments.
HONG KONG
That was when I realized that I was in Hongkong and the train was going from Sha Tin District to Shek Wu Hui. I dunno where those places were but I could vividly remember them because that was what was written in the train dashboard. I went up to the conductor and I told him that I wasn't supposed to be in this train, I have to go back and I don't have a ticket. The conductor said it's ok, I would just pay when we get to the first station.
But I had a bad feeling that the first station would be miles from where I was so I asked if they could just drop me somewhere, since I reckoned that it wasn't yet far. So the driver hit the brakes - just like an ordinary automobile - and dropped me in a field just a few meters away from the station. That was when i noticed that I was with another girl whom I do not know. So we both went back to the staion, running as fast as we could because we were in a tunnel and we were afraid that we might meet a train on the way.
Then, we went to the station and paid for our fare which incredibly was only a peso! Afterwards, we have to sign something since the finance said that we disturbed the normal rhythm of the train by having dropped us on its way. So we did and we went out of the station.
But then as I went out, I realized that I was on the train again. Worse, I was clinging on the window by the driver. The train stopped onto the station and I went down with Icelle.
E-LOAD
We both went to a nearby store where they have an Electronic Load. We were accompanied by another guy whom I knew in my dream, but I didn't know in reality. I was about to write my number when I realized that I couldn't remember it. I kept on writing random numbers which I wasn't familiar with. Then I asked this guy friend about my number and when he recited it, I was like, "Damn! How could I forget that?"
And afterwards, I dialled my sister's number and told her that we should meet at Disneyland because my friends and I were going there.
What happened in Disneyland, I never got the chance to know because my eyes voluntarily opened and I wasn't in a beach, on a train or in Hong Kong because I was in my bedroom.

The final book of the Chronicles of Narnia tells the tale of the final days of this magical country. Set some hundreds of years since the reign of King Rilian the Disenchanted.
This time, the most terrible thing that could happen to Narnia has once again happened and Jill and Eustace came to the rescue with the help of Professor Digory Kirke, Aunt Polly, Peter, Edmund and Lucy and of course, the great Aslan himself.
This final installment of the Chronicles of Narnia showed how a superficial world could end while there is a new and more wonderful life waiting ahead of you. No matter how hopeless you get in your known world, there will always be a real world wherein you can get your hopes higher and live your life longer.
I loved the last chapter of this book where they were able to meet the most legendary people who ruled Narnia. There were the first King and Queen - Frank and Helen - before Jadis the White Witch took over. There was Fledge, the winged horse with whom Polly and Digory flew with as they searched for the golden apple to protect Narnia. Then there was Mr. Tumnus the Faun, Lucy's first ever friend when she first set foot into Narnia. There were Caspian the Seafarer, Nikabrik the Good Dwarf, Reepicheep the Noble Mouse, Trufflehunter the Badger, Mr. and Mrs. Beaver, King Rilian the Disenchanted, Cor, Aravis and Corin of Archenland and many others. Of course, if you were able to read everything from the Magician's Nephew until The Silver Chair, then you will be as excited as I was upon seeing their names being mentioned again.
It may be a very deadly ending for the superficial Narnia where the non-believers of Aslan suffered but it was a very good start for those who kept their hearts and faith into the great lion who started and ended Narnia.

In reading all the seven books of the Chronicles of Narnia, I never quite understood how time travels when you are not in the magical country of Aslan. It has been around eight decades since Digory Kirke had the magical wardrobe created and the Pevensies accidentally discovered it. By that time, it was thousands of years since Frank the cabbie and his wife Helen have ruled Narnia. By the time the Pevensies arrived in the country, they never knew about how Narnia was created and all they knew was that it has been ruled by the evil witch who made it snow in the entire country for a hundred years.
Of course, they have restored peace in Narnia and left without meaning to, back into their own world. Then as they went back to the magical country a year later, they found out that it has already been 1300 years since they last left.
When Edmund and Lucy came back to join King Caspian in the voyage of Dawn Treader, it was only three years after their last visit when it has already been a year in the Pevensie world.
And of course, when Eustace, the Pevensie cousin and his friend Jill Pole came into Narnia, it was another century since he last joined King Caspian in the journey to the End of the World. The King at this moment was already too old and should be succeeded by his missing son whom Eustace and Jill have to rescue.
And apparently another year after in the normal London world, it was yeat another thousands of years in Narnia where the present King Tirian admitted that King Rilian was his great grandfather's great granfather.
But anyway, I only had that kind of time-table because just like what Eustace Scrubb said, it was really hard to determine how time works in Narnia when they are in their own world.
The Silver Chair tells a story about The missing Prince of Cair Paravel, King Caspian X's only son, Rilian.
This time, the Pevensie's weren't allowed to go into Narnia anymore because they were already too old to be in the country. This time, it was their cousin Eustace and his friend Jill's chance to experience the wonderful world of Narnia and to do what Aslan wanted them to do: to rescue Prince Rilian from the enchantments of an evil witch who named herself as the Queen of the Underworld.
It was really a nice story except for the fact that Eustace never had the chance to talk to King Caspian before the latter died of old age.
Also, both kids weren't too drawn into Narnia unlike the Pevensies who have actually loved Narnia since their first visit in the country.
But there were more mysteries in this book that made me wonder how come more and more creatures have desired to rule the country when they knew about Aslan and the ancient Kings and Queens of the Narnia.
But all the while, the two kids were brave enough to be able to rescue the Prince simply by believing on Aslan and not doubting anything that he wished them to do and see.

A year in the Pevensie world and exactly three years in Narnia.
King Caspian X was actually ruling Narnia in a fairly peaceful way but The Voyage of Dawn Treader didn't take place in the magical country, but in the sea.
This tells the adventure of King Caspian upon his search of the ten Lords of Narnia whom his evil uncle Miraz banished while he ruled the country. Caspian was doing this in fulfillment of his promise to Aslan in the previous book.
The Pevensie kids who returned to Narnia during this adventure were only Edmund and Lucy for Peter was studying for an exam with Professor Diggory Kirke and Susan has gone to America for her studies. In short, the two were already old enough to go back to Narnia.
Lucy and Edmund weren't the only ones who came back, but they were accompanied by a rather reluctant cousin of theirs, Eustace Clarence Scrubb. Now that name would be too important for the last two books of Narnia for the Pevensies wouldn't be returning anymore because probably by that time, Edmund and Lucy have already both outgrown their age and like Susan and Peter, would be too old to go back to Narnia anymore.
The Dawn Treader's journey in search for the banished Narnian Lords was so much of an adventure and it was really fun to read until the last chapter. Every island that they will step into would hold magic or an uncommon experience that not all of them could forget.
Even the "evil" Eustace was able to appreciate the beauty of the lands held by Narnia and how powerful Aslan is.

First of all, I didn't know that I was the only one whom Dhawell invited among our college friends. I was surprised since I would be staying in his house for two nights and apart from his dad, younger bro and cousin, I haven't met most of his family yet.
It was not so bad though. Although I only knew a few people among his high school friends, I still managed to get along with them somehow and it was fun.
Then the next day, we went to Lake Agco with Dhawell's family. I know, ang epal-epal ko but it's ok. It was just like I was a very distant relative! LMAO! =p
Lake Agco was in the foot of Mt. Apo. The lake, of course was boiling hot with steam coming from underneath the earth. But the heat of the lake can compromise to the freezing temperture of the atmosphere since we are by the mountain and it was raining when we arrived.
We could see our bodies steaming with smoke when we climb out of the hot pool then feel our muscles grown rigid and numb when we submerge into the freezing pool water.
It was great. Such a brief trip since Dhawell has to go back to Davao and has to return to Manila by tomorrow, but at least, finally, I have been to Kidapawan! =]

This is supposed to be the sequel to The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe but I suppose this wasn't much important because the story didn't revolve around the Kings and Queens of Narnia - that is, the Pevensie kids - but around an Archenlander boy who was kidnapped and made to live in Calormen as a peasant.
It mostly told the adventure of this kid, Shasta and a Tarkheena named Aravis who also ran away. Together with two Narnian talking horses Bree and Hwin, they set out from Calormene and Tashbaan towards the North going to Narnia.
It wasn't too much exciting to read but it was quite good although I believe it's not worth making into a movie for it only involves the long travels of the Horse and His Boy.

Alright, buying the book was kind of a waste; because what you saw in the movie was exactly what was written in the book - every bit of it.
Well in the movie, the battle has been longer and there were more actions during the war between Peter and Edmund and the White Witch. But other than that, everything was the same from the beginning up to the end.
But it was still worth a read though. Well, sometimes, I think that the purpose for buying books was for my collection, not reading. Although I knew the story already, I would still buy the book so I would have a collection, or probably something to share with my friends.
I was glad, I saw the movie first before I read the book, which of course is another children's book. At least, I didn't have any bad bout about the comparison of the movie and the book, for of course, they do not have any differences.
Friday, August 22, 2008

I was wondering at first why this first installment of the Narnia Chronicles wasn't made into a movie. After reading however, I understood why they didn't bother showing this story first before The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
It is indeed, a children's story. More like a fairy tale that could match the Mother Goose stories. I thought it was a novel; something like the Harry Potter series or even the Lord of the Rings books, but it was different.
It tells a story in the Point of View of the Author. It was nice reading the book and feeling as if he was really telling you the story himself, dropping all the formality and carrying on with narrating like he really wanted the readers to understand.
The Magician's Nephew told the story of how Narnia began and how the hell was there a Wardrobe that leads to the city in the house where the Pevensies have stayed during the war.
I never quite understood when I watched the movie. All I doubted was that Professor Digory Kirke, who owned the house knew about the wardrobe. I never knew that he was the one who had the wardrobe created in the first book.
It was fun, I was laughing most of the time while reading the book because of the animals in Narnia and because of Digory's Uncle Andrew. As the world of Narnia began (just like how our own world began according to the Bible), creatures all around the city start to become aware of their existence and the existence of the other worlds and creatures, including the humans, or as what Aslan called the Sons and Daughters of Adam and Eve.
So now I understood why it wasn't made into a movie for The Magician's Nephew only told the story of how Narnia began, and how that single wardrobe brought Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy to the other world apart from their own.
